CLARITY Act Negotiations Intensify in Closed-Door Senate and White House Meetings
Negotiations around the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act have intensified, with daily closed-door meetings taking place among U.S. Senators, White House officials, and crypto industry representatives. Solana Policy Institute President Kristin Smith provided an update on the bill’s progress, aiming to ease concerns about its trajectory. In a thread on X, Smith expressed optimism that the legislation could reach the President’s desk. She highlighted active discussions between Senate Democrats, Senate Republicans, the White House, and the crypto industry, describing the negotiations as serious and substantive work that occurs every day. Smith noted enthusiastic bipartisan support from key senators, including Cynthia Lummis, Ruben Gallego, Kirsten Gillibrand, Angela Alsobrooks, and Bernie Moreno. Despite obstacles such as disagreements on stablecoin yield provisions and an ethics clause, she emphasized that leaders have found creative ways to keep moving forward. Smith identified a critical window for the bill from July 13 to August 7, urging action before the Senate recess. She acknowledged that thousands of hours have already been dedicated to the CLARITY Act by lawmakers, administration officials, and industry participants.
