Michael Saylor Reaffirms Strategy’s Bitcoin Focus as Market Volatility Intensifies
Strategy executives reaffirmed the company’s bitcoin treasury strategy this week, with Executive Chairman Michael Saylor and President and CEO Phong Le sharing separate statements on the firm’s priorities during market volatility.
Saylor wrote on June 26 on X: “Volatility tests every capital structure. Strategy remains focused on bitcoin, disciplined capital allocation, credit quality, and long-term value creation.” He added: “We appreciate our investors and will continue to execute with transparency and resolve.”
Saylor also described STRC, the company’s preferred stock offering tied to its bitcoin strategy, as part of its income-focused products, writing, “Digital Credit is income for investors who believe in bitcoin.”
Le addressed broader market conditions, stating that Strategy accumulated 4% of the world’s “apex digital asset” (bitcoin) for periods like the current one. He said:
“Global markets and sectors are experiencing unprecedented uncertainty. We accumulated 4% of the world’s apex digital asset for times like these.”
Strategy’s securities have come under sustained selling pressure. MSTR closed at $82.31 on June 26, down 47.49% over the past month and 48.52% over six months, while STRC ended at $74.57, extending its one-month decline to 25.05% and its six-month loss to 24.68%.
Le also addressed bitcoin’s place within broader technology trends. In a June 24 post, Le pointed to both bitcoin and AI as defining innovations of the current era, noting that their market trajectories tend to be uneven. He wrote: “Bitcoin and AI are the two most transformative technologies of the 21st century. Markets rarely appreciate transformative technologies in a straight line.”
Reaffirming Strategy’s bitcoin conviction, Le said on June 10: “We’re the largest holder of bitcoin in the world. We’re the largest purchaser of bitcoin in the world. And we’ll continue to be.”
Strategy’s bitcoin position has swelled to 846,842 BTC after surviving a dramatic 2022 crypto market downturn.
