Ripple Partners with SBI Holdings for Japan RLUSD Stablecoin Launch
Ripple has partnered with SBI VC Trade, a subsidiary of SBI Holdings, to introduce its RLUSD stablecoin in Japan. The Japanese Financial Services Agency (JFSA) has classified RLUSD as a Type 4 electronic payment instrument under the Payment Services Act, marking a regulatory milestone. The stablecoin will initially launch on the Ethereum network with a transaction limit of ¥1 million.
This development is significant as it combines regulatory progress, network adoption, and market structure. While the immediate impact on prices remains uncertain, the move provides a new metric to assess whether the crypto market is driven by genuine adoption or short-term speculation. The partnership underscores the growing role of regulated stablecoins in Japan and could influence how traders evaluate Ripple, XRP, and RLUSD.
Market observers will watch for follow-up announcements, on-chain data, and liquidity responses to determine if this is a lasting trend or an isolated event.
