Tom Lee's Bitmine Adds 27,084 ETH as Holdings Reach 4.7% of Ethereum Supply
Ethereum treasury firm Bitmine has acquired 27,084 ETH over the past week, bringing its total holdings to over 5.7 million ETH, which accounts for 4.7% of Ethereum’s total supply of 120.7 million ETH. The company, chaired by Tom Lee, continues its steady accumulation strategy throughout 2025.
Bitmine has staked nearly 4.9 million ETH, representing 85% of its holdings, which is worth approximately $7.7 billion at current prices. The staking operations have generated a 7-day yield of 2.75% annualized, and the firm projects annualized staking revenue of $211 million.
This week’s purchase comes as Bitmine joins the Russell 1000 index following its annual reconstitution. Tom Lee noted that this move is expected to attract hundreds or thousands of additional institutional investors as equity owners.
Despite a challenging week for the crypto market, with Ethereum prices falling 8%, Lee highlighted positive developments such as the creation of Ethlabs and a softened stance on stablecoins by the Bank of England. He attributed the recent price drop to ‘window dressing’ as investors reduce holdings in assets that have fallen over the past three months.
Ethereum and Bitmine stock have shown signs of recovery. ETH is approaching the $1,600 level, while BMNR stock rose nearly 2% at market open to around $14, though it remains down over 15% for the week.
