Ukraine’s ARMA Takes Direct Custody of $8.3M in USDT from Hacking Group
Ukraine’s Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) announced on June 27 that it has taken direct custody of $8.3 million in USDT, marking the first time the agency has managed seized cryptocurrency in its own wallet. The seizure is part of an operation against an international hacking group that targeted individuals and companies in Europe and the U.S., causing over $100 million in damages. Only $11.3 million has been recovered so far. ARMA emphasized that the move was the result of coordinated efforts by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the Prosecutor General. The agency highlighted that the transaction demonstrates its readiness to handle digital assets and that the state system for managing seized assets is evolving to meet modern challenges. While some reports suggest Ukraine holds 46,000 BTC in custody, ARMA confirmed that no significant amounts of BTC or other cryptocurrencies have been received from criminal seizures.
