Ripple Spotlights 8 Key RLUSD Developments Shaping Global Payments Push

Importance High

Ripple continues to build interest in its RLUSD stablecoin, as the company highlights eight recent developments spanning payments, infrastructure, and global access. In a June 29 post on X, Ripple’s SVP of Stablecoins, Jack McDonald, pointed to advancements in settlement, regional access, on-chain liquidity, cross-border payments, multichain support, exchange listings, philanthropy, and Japan.

One of the most notable developments is Mastercard’s expansion of its settlement framework to incorporate RLUSD across eight blockchain networks, including the XRP Ledger. This integration places RLUSD within a wider stablecoin settlement push, connecting it to established financial infrastructure.

In Turkey, Ripple expanded RLUSD’s availability through collaborations with locally regulated platforms BiLira, Bitexen, and Bitlo, giving institutional participants in the region more direct access to the stablecoin. Ripple also strengthened its relationship with Bitso, enabling RLUSD and MXNB to support liquidity and cross-border transactions via the XRP Ledger’s Permissioned DEX.

Another key development is Ripple’s strategic investment in Flutterwave, where RLUSD is expected to serve as a core settlement asset for high-volume payment corridors across Africa. On the technical front, RLUSD became multichain through Wormhole’s Native Token Transfers (NTT), allowing the asset to move natively across different blockchain environments for cross-border payments and institutional use.

RLUSD officially entered the Japanese market via SBI VC Trade after approval from the Japan Financial Services Agency (JFSA), expanding access to regulated USD stablecoins in one of the world’s most important digital asset markets. Distribution also widened with listings on exchanges such as Gate and Floq, and integration with cross-chain infrastructure provider Squid Router.

Beyond commercial use cases, Ripple aligned RLUSD with social impact efforts by joining Water’s GetBlue campaign as its exclusive digital asset and payments partner, helping streamline donation flows for organizations working to expand access to clean water.

These eight developments collectively show RLUSD’s expanding role across payments, exchanges, cross-chain tools, philanthropy, and regulated market access.
