Robinhood Chain Launches, Metaplanet Buys 2,823 BTC, and Other Crypto News
Robinhood deepened its onchain push with the launch of Robinhood Chain, calling it “our most ambitious global expansion and product vision to date.” Unlike previous trends where blockchain projects paid apps to join, now apps are reportedly paying Robinhood to be part of its chain. This development marks a significant shift in the crypto ecosystem.
Metaplanet expanded its bitcoin treasury by purchasing 2,823 BTC for $225 million during Q2 2026, at an average price of $78,872 per bitcoin. The company now holds 43,000 BTC. Notably, Metaplanet’s “BTC per share” metric has consistently increased, even as its stock price declined.
Grayscale presented two possible scenarios to exit bitcoin’s bear market. The base case involves Senate progress on the CLARITY Act, balance-sheet action from Strategy, and no additional Federal Reserve rate hikes. While these conditions seem achievable, analysts noted changing Fed rhetoric as a potential risk.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong linked cryptocurrency to America’s mounting national debt, arguing that the Constitution lacks safeguards such as spending caps. He proposed creating a new constitution in a special economic zone or “cyberspace” to enforce hard-backed currency. This marks the first time a major figure of Armstrong’s influence has publicly advocated for such changes.
Metamask launched Money Account, a self-custodial feature offering up to 4% APY on mUSD, alongside trading and Mastercard spending access. This move positions MetaMask as an “everything app,” raising questions about whether users will still chase yields on external DeFi platforms.
