Bitcoin ETFs Lose $425M as Fidelity and Blackrock Drive Fresh Wave of Outflows

Importance Critical

Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded $424.66 million in net outflows on Monday, July 13, marking a weak start to the week. Fidelity’s FBTC led the redemptions with $245.62 million exiting, followed by Blackrock’s IBIT at $185.50 million and Grayscale’s GBTC at $53.06 million. Offsetting inflows came from Grayscale’s Bitcoin Mini Trust ($53.38 million) and VanEck’s HODL ($6.14 million), but they were insufficient to change the overall negative direction. Total bitcoin ETF trading volume reached $2.06 billion, while net assets closed at $74.79 billion.

The outflow picture points to renewed caution rather than broad panic, yet the size of the exits underscores fragile institutional demand amid light trading activity. Ether ETFs also ended in negative territory, posting $15.41 million in net outflows, primarily from Fidelity’s FETH. No inflows were recorded across the group. Total ether ETF volume stood at $430.91 million, with net assets at $9.46 billion.

HYPE ETFs slipped by $3.93 million, entirely from Bitwise’s BHYP, after a strong run of demand in recent weeks. Total volume for HYPE ETFs was $14.79 million, and net assets closed at $327.79 million. XRP and Solana ETFs saw no trading activity for the day.

Broader market data from Glassnode highlights that U.S. spot ETF trading volumes remain in a low-volume regime, down 78% from their peak and below 2024 levels. This sluggish participation may hinder a sustained recovery in bitcoin price momentum. Monday’s flows indicate a market still searching for conviction, with bitcoin and ether vulnerable to sharp exits and alternative assets like HYPE cooling after recent strength.
