Glassnode: Hyperliquid Bitcoin Longs Just Topped Levels From Q2's $83K Run
Onchain analytics firm Glassnode reported Wednesday that leveraged traders on the decentralized exchange Hyperliquid have built bitcoin long exposure exceeding any previously measured levels. This positioning surpasses that seen during the last run to around $83,000, indicating strong speculative demand.
Hyperliquid, a decentralized derivatives exchange for perpetual futures, allows onchain visibility of positions, making it a key gauge of speculative appetite. The long buildup did not occur overnight; bitcoin whales on Hyperliquid have recently pushed net long positions to a yearly high, with accumulation continuing despite price declines in June.
The timing coincides with bitcoin reclaiming $65,000 hours ago, a level analysts consider the first major ceiling after a slide below $62,000 amid renewed U.S.-Iran tensions. However, analysts warn that rising net long exposure during a falling market increases squeeze risk, as crowded longs can be liquidated in cascades if prices reverse. Leveraged positioning does not necessarily reflect genuine spot demand.
Despite this, the persistence of bids is notable. Leveraged traders added bullish exposure throughout the June decline, a pattern consistent with dip-buying conviction rather than momentum chasing. This mirrors the broader market, where each drop below $62,000 this month has been bought within days.
Market observers will watch whether positioning unwinds into strength or continues building. If bitcoin holds above $65,000, record longs would sit comfortably in profit. Conversely, a rejection at this level could turn speculative demand into fuel for a liquidation cascade.
