ONDO Jumps 15% After Ondo Finance and SBI Group Build Japan Tokenization Push
ONDO, the native token of decentralized finance platform Ondo Finance, jumped 15% to $0.393 on July 16, 2026, pushing its weekly gains past 20% and driving its market cap to nearly $1.87 billion. The rally followed two key announcements.
First, Ondo Finance partnered with Japanese financial services giant SBI Group to tokenize Japanese assets. The collaboration covers distribution across the SBI ecosystem and settlement using the JPYSC stablecoin. Ondo CEO Ian De Bode said the partnership creates a path to bring Japanese assets on-chain and connect Japan with the global tokenized economy. SBI Holdings CEO Yoshitaka Kitao described Ondo as a key strategic partner for building a global digital assets corridor.
Second, Ondo launched the first tokenized stock representations based on DTC digital entitlements, generated through the DTCC Tokenization Service. These digital representations of securities held by the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) serve as digital twins for Ondo’s existing tokenized stocks. The DTCC, which processed approximately $4.7 quadrillion in transactions in 2025, is the premier post-trade market infrastructure for U.S. securities. Ondo joins major institutions such as BlackRock, J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Nasdaq, and the New York Stock Exchange in this initiative.
Together, these developments lifted ONDO’s market capitalization from $1.55 billion to nearly $1.87 billion, making it one of the few digital assets with positive year-to-date gains. The tokenized securities can be converted between traditional and tokenized forms, offering greater liquidity and flexibility across Ondo’s global partner network.
