Eole Makes Japan's First HYPE Treasury Buy, Targets a $611K Stake

Eole Inc., a Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed company, has become the first Japanese public company to disclose a purchase of Hyperliquid’s HYPE token. The company bought 1,078.2547 HYPE on July 28 for $66,002 (¥10.08 million) at an average price of $57.15 (¥9,352) per token.

Eole plans to increase the position through several purchases by the end of August, bringing its total investment to $611,113 (¥100 million). The company described the transaction as Japan’s first publicly listed company purchase of HYPE based on its review of corporate filings.

HYPE is the native token of Hyperliquid, a blockchain network focused on onchain derivatives and trading. Eole will hold the token alongside bitcoin as a strategic asset under its “Neo Crypto Bank” initiative, launched in October 2025 to develop financial infrastructure for an economy where artificial intelligence agents can make payments and enter contracts.

Eole said the investment is “not merely speculation for the purpose of capital gains” but part of an effort to strengthen its onchain finance and Web3 businesses. The company may generate revenue by lending digital assets and hedging price risks through traditional financial markets, and will explore connecting the holdings with its own services.

Eole’s purchase contrasts with another Japanese corporate crypto holder, Quantum Solutions. Its subsidiary GPT Pals Studio sold 1,000 ETH on July 30 for about $1.9 million to support AI infrastructure operations, including data centers. This was Quantum’s second ether sale, lifting total disposals to 1,904 ETH. Its remaining balance fell to 4,764.80 ETH, about 29% below peak holdings. Quantum also raised its cumulative sales limit, allowing further reductions.

The contrasting decisions highlight a fragmentation in Japan’s corporate crypto strategy. Eole uses digital assets to support an onchain finance thesis, while Quantum converts treasury into capital for AI infrastructure.
