July's Biggest Ripple (XRP) Stories: RLUSD Expansion, AI, and Institutional Adoption
July was a busy month for Ripple, the company behind XRP, marked by three key developments: the expansion of its RLUSD stablecoin, new enterprise infrastructure, and a milestone for AI activity on the XRP Ledger.
RLUSD Enters New Markets Ripple expanded its dollar-pegged stablecoin RLUSD by integrating OpenUSD, reinforcing its commitment to multichain infrastructure for institutional adoption. In addition, Japan’s Financial Services Agency (JFSA) approved RLUSD for use through SBI VC Trade. The company also highlighted its Giving4th campaign, donating RLUSD to nonprofits to showcase real-world stablecoin utility. Earlier this week, an executive noted that RLUSD launched on South Korea’s four largest exchanges: Upbit, Bithumb, Korbit, and Coinone. The stablecoin’s market cap reached $1.6 billion on August 1.
Expanding Enterprise Infrastructure Ripple introduced Ripple Mint, a platform helping financial institutions issue, manage, and redeem RLUSD more effectively. The company also invested in Notabene, a compliance and payments infrastructure firm, to improve regulated cross-border payments. Meanwhile, Binance extended support for RLUSD with new promotions and increased visibility.
AI Activity Rises on the XRPL On July 22, on-chain data showed that the XRP Ledger surpassed 1.4 million transactions initiated by AI agents. This milestone highlights growing experimentation with autonomous applications and machine-to-machine payments, demonstrating that developers are exploring the XRPL for use cases beyond traditional payments.
