Strategy Posts $8.2B Q2 Loss as Coinbase Revenue Falls 19%

Leading Bitcoin treasury company Strategy reported a loss of over $8.23 billion in the second quarter of 2026, driven by an unrealized loss of $8.32 billion on its Bitcoin holdings. The company increased its BTC holdings by 846 units during the quarter. CEO Phong Le noted that the firm reduced its convertible debt to under $7 billion and grew its Bitcoin per share by 5%. Executive chairman Michael Saylor said the company aims to return its stock to health and create long-term shareholder value.

Meanwhile, Coinbase suffered a 19% year-over-year decline in revenue, with trading volumes dropping 24% to slightly above $145 billion. Transaction revenue fell 21%, and consumer transactional revenue decreased 20% from the prior quarter. Despite the downturn, Coinbase’s prediction market business grew over 100% quarter-over-quarter, and the average amount of USDC held across its products reached a record $20 billion, representing more than 30% of all USDC in circulation.
